Baby Bird

We found the cutest little baby bird in our yard a few days ago. He actually let Ben hold him and could fly from Ben’s finger to the ground, but could not quite fly up on his own. I think he was still a little shocked from falling out of his nest. Anyway, Jack thought it was so cool that we rescued a baby bird and made a box of leaves and grass with little bits of worms and bread. He kept asking us, “what is the baby bird doing now?”……..”what is he doing now?” He asked us as many times as your typical kid asks “are we there yet?”  on a long trip. Well, unfortunately, when I came downstairs from putting the kids to bed, our little baby bird had died. It was pretty sad, but the hardest part was hearing Jack ask first thing the next morning, “how is our baby bird doing?”  Well, Ben did a fantastic job answering him and Jack just listened and took it all in. He then responded with something so amazing. He said, “So, baby bird went up to heaven and now he won’t die anymore.” Wow!  He basically just summed up eternal life with Jesus Christ….out of the mouth of babes!!

I Timothy 4:12 “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.”
