“God Has Three Hands”

Jack is continually trying to understand all of God’s characteristics and somehow make sense of it in his almost 4 year old mind. It keeps us on our toes and keeps us laughing too. This morning we were talking about the sunshine and the clouds and he was wondering how we could get the clouds to go away. We were all throwing out different answers like the wind and such… and then he says, “could the angels do it?” to which we answered “well….yes” and then he said with mucho confidence “God…God could do it…..He has three hands. He is like an octopus!” Ben looked at me and said, “God DOES have three hands – Father, Son and Holy Spirit”  And if you think about it, the things that God can accomplish in a single moment probably does look like and octupus. He is like the head and we are the tentacles. He sends us a message and we do what He asks. That is why it is so important for us to be obedient to the things He is showing us to do. It will probably be different than the other tentacles (could you imagine the tentacles of an octupus all comparing their job to eachother and trying to do the same thing?), but they all work together to get the job done (insert Bob the Builder theme song).  Just think of all the things we could accomplish with one or two more hands….dishes, laundry, lunch and dinner…I could go on, but you get the idea.

The more hands God has, the more He can accomplish, unless the hands are not working…..then they are just dead weight. You know the feeling when you wake up and your arm is asleep and you have to use your other arm and hand to move it around until it wakes up and is able to function on its own. How many of God’s hands are occupied with waking the other arms up right now? Yes, it is important to wake each other up, but at some point we need to stop falling asleep and realize that God needs us to be ready, willing and obedient to accomplish His purpose and what He has set out to do on the earth!

Ephesians 5:13-17 “But all things become visible when they are exposed by the light, for everything that becomes visible is light. For this reason it says, “Awake, sleeper, and arise from the dead, And Christ will shine on you.” Therefore be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise, making the most of your time, because the days are evil. So then do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.”

  1. Great insight girl! You’ve given me a lot to chew on with this one…it also ties in with Ben’s blog, ‘Love In Action’, oh what we can accomplish when we let God use us as His Hands and Feet.
